Catherine Perret Biography

Catherine Perret was born on September 11, 1990, in Rio Grande – one of the oldest cities in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.
At the age of 6, Perret moved to Chapecó and this is where she first joined a Jiu Jitsu academy at the age of 18. Catherine quickly fell in love with the art and shortly after earning her blue belt from coach Ronilson Silva, Perret was invited to move to Rio de Janeiro to train full time under professor Ricardo Vieira at the Fight Zone Academy in Copacabana. Rico would award Catherine with her Purple and Brown belts. Under Ricardo, Catherine became one of the hottest names in the female divisions, winning many titles climbing up the ranks.

In May 2016, Perret traveled to the United States to compete in the IBJJF World Championship. She was invited to teach and train at fellow teammate Marcelo Mafra BJJ. Her training would be handled by Leo Vieira (brother of Rico) at Checkmat HQ. Perret would earn her Black belt from Leo after becoming the 2017 GI World Champion.
Perret has gone on to capture many other titles and belts including both Gi and Nogi Belts for Fight 2 Win and has competed at ADCC. She is still actively competing and teaching seminars all over the world.
